12 Days Tour From Marrakech To Chefchaouen

Arrive in Marrakech and transfer to your riad in the medina. The rest of the day is free to settle in, with an optional evening visit to Jemaa el-Fnaa square to take in the snake charmers, storytellers, and food stalls.

A full day of Marrakech sightseeing: the Bahia Palace with its carved cedar ceilings and painted stucco, the exterior of the Koutoubia Mosque, the cobalt-blue gardens of Jardin Majorelle, and an afternoon exploring the medina souks.

Depart Marrakech and cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, with stops at scenic viewpoints and Berber villages along the way. Visit Ait Ben Haddou, the fortified ksar used as a filming location for Gladiator and Game of Thrones, then continue to Ouarzazate for a look at the Atlas Film Studios, one of the largest in the world.

Drive through the Dades Valley, stopping at the Skoura Oasis and its historic kasbahs and the Valley of Roses at Kelaat M'Gouna, known for its rose-based products. Continue to Tinghir for the overnight, at the doorstep of the High Atlas's most dramatic gorge.

Morning walk through Todra Gorge, where canyon walls rise some 300 meters overhead. Continue the drive east to Merzouga, arriving in time for a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes and a night at a traditional Berber desert camp, with dinner and music around the campfire.

Sunrise over the dunes to start the day, followed by a full adrenaline experience: a 4x4 off-road excursion dune bashing across Erg Chebbi and out onto the open desert plateau, with a stop for tea at a nomad tent and a lunch cooked fresh on the spot in the desert, not packed and handed to you. Overnight in Merzouga.

Drive north through the palm groves of the Ziz Valley, the town of Midelt, and the Alpine-style scenery of the Middle Atlas near Ifrane, arriving in Fes by evening.

A full day exploring Fes: the Fes el-Bali medina, one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world, the Chouara Tanneries viewed from a terrace, and a visit to a traditional ceramic workshop to see hand-painted zellige tilework being made.

Depart Fes and visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis, followed by a stop in Meknes to see the Bab Mansour gate and the Royal Stables. Continue north to arrive in Chefchaouen, the Blue City, by evening.

A morning exploring Chefchaouen's blue-washed medina streets, with an optional hike to the Spanish Mosque for panoramic views over the town. In the afternoon, drive south to Rabat.

A day covering two of Morocco's key cities: in Rabat, visit the Kasbah of the Udayas, the Hassan Tower, and the Chellah necropolis, then continue on to Casablanca to see the Hassan II Mosque and take a walk along the Corniche.

Return drive to Marrakech, with transfer for your departure.
