On arrival in Marrakech, you're met and transferred to your riad in the medina, where you can settle in and rest after your journey. As evening falls, head out to Jemaa el-Fnaa square — snake charmers, storytellers, henna artists, and food stalls filling the air with grilled meat and spice smoke. It's a relaxed first taste of the city before dinner at one of the square's rooftop terraces, with views over the square below.

A full day inside the Red City. Begin at the Bahia Palace, a 19th-century vizier's residence with carved cedar ceilings, painted stucco, and courtyards of orange trees. Continue to the exterior of the Koutoubia Mosque, Marrakech's tallest landmark and a 12th-century masterpiece of Almohad architecture. In the afternoon, wind through the medina souks — spice stalls, leather workshops, lantern makers, and carpet sellers — with your guide on hand to help with translation and a bit of friendly bargaining.

Start the morning at Jardin Majorelle, the electric-blue garden created by French painter Jacques Majorelle and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent — home to towering bamboo, cacti, and cobalt-blue pavilions. From there, visit the Saadian Tombs, a 16th-century royal necropolis rediscovered only in 1917, followed by the atmospheric ruins of El Badi Palace, once one of the most opulent palaces in the Islamic world. The evening is free for you to choose your own dinner spot in Gueliz or the medina.

A scenic drive of about an hour brings you into the High Atlas foothills. Stop in Berber villages along the Ourika River, where local life moves at its own pace, then walk up to the Setti Fatma waterfalls, a series of cascades reached via an easy trail. Lunch is served on a terrace overlooking the valley, a welcome change of pace after three days in the city.

A scenic 2.5–3 hour drive west carries you through groves of argan trees to the Atlantic coast. In the afternoon, explore Essaouira's UNESCO-listed medina, walk the Skala de la Ville ramparts with their rows of old cannons facing the sea, and wander the working fishing port with its distinctive blue boats. Overnight in a coastal riad, with the sound of the Atlantic close by.

Enjoy a free morning to walk the beach, browse the town's art galleries and boutiques, or visit a women-run argan oil cooperative. In the early afternoon, drive back to Marrakech, with a transfer to the airport for your departure.
