Both Ouarzazate and Ait Benhadou fortress are located on the southern slopes of High Atlas Mountains. The city of Ouarzazate is considered to be the gateway to Sahara Desert and the capital of Kasbahs. For a long time, Ouarzazate was a small crossing point for African traders on their way to northern Morocco and Europe. During the French period, it has expanded considerably as a garrison town, administrative centre and customs post. 40km far from Ouarzazate, is the mud village of Ait Benhadou.

It is an eminent example of a ksar ‘village’ in southern Morocco illustrating the main types of earthen constructions that maybe observed dating from the 17th century. This UNESCO site hosted an important list of Hollywood movies such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and Game of Thrones…all this makes it a very iconic landmark in Morocco’s history.

Our journey will take us via the Atlas Mountains, green plains, mud villages and remote areas…after you have taken your breakfast, our driver will meet you at the hotel and start our adventure to Ouarzazate and Kasbah Ait Benhadou. We will leave Marrakech and cross High Atlas Mountains with panoramic views along the ride.

Arrive to Ouarzazate to have pictures of Kasbah Taourirt and Atlas Studio (external side). Later on, we leave to Kasbah Ait Benhadou to walk through its narrow alleys and enjoy a nice view of Ounila Valley. Have lunch in the site. Around 3pm, we take our road back to Marrakech.
